Here you'll learn why hot tub maintenance is so important and how to do it: A whirlpool, with its warm water and hydromassage, brings a touch of luxury to your home. But to ensure this feeling of well-being lasts, proper maintenance is crucial. The better you care for your whirlpool, the longer you can extend the lifespan of your spa oasis. But why is regularly emptying the outdoor whirlpool so important? Is it really necessary? YES. Even if the water appears clean, residues of limescale, care products, skin particles, body oils & dirt accumulate over time. These impurities provide a breeding ground for bacteria and make the water cloudy and unhygienic, despite the addition of chemical cleaning agents and filters. Furthermore, these residues can accumulate in the nozzles and pipes, which can impair the technology . This means that regular emptying is important to keep your hot tub truly clean and extend its lifespan. How often should you empty and clean a hot tub? It's impossible to say in general. It depends on how often it's actually used. Assuming daily use , the water should be changed at least every 8 weeks . If you only use it occasionally or rarely , you should change the water at least every 3 months . Especially after longer periods of disuse, bacteria can accumulate in the hot tub. Therefore, even after extended periods of inactivity, the hot tub should be completely emptied and refilled. Tip: Draining your hot tub can also be helpful if you notice that the jets are bubbling less strongly or if the water smells strange or musty despite adding cleaning agents. How does the emptying process work? Our hot tubs come with two types of drain valves : The side drain valve is located on the paneling and the square drain valve is located in a corner of the base . The article number of your hot tub (SPA**) tells you which one applies to your product. You can find this in our online shop in the product description. Alternatively, you can also use the name of your outdoor hot tub as a guide. WARNING: The power supply must be switched off before emptying. Otherwise, serious damage may occur due to dry running. This type of damage is NOT covered by the warranty. The draining water should only be discharged into a drain . No water should be discharged onto lawns or plants unless the chlorine has evaporated. SPA08 to SPA18 These models require a 3/4" counterpart (e.g., Gardena). SPA52 to SPA62 Tip: After emptying, you can clean the acrylic with a damp microfiber cloth to remove any deposits. Once everything is clean again, you can refill your whirlpool with tap water and add the water care products again. Please ensure that you only switch on the product once the water level has reached the optimal height. Extra tips for maintaining your whirlpool: Even small habits can further increase the lifespan of your whirlpool and improve hygiene: After use: Turn on the filter and let the water circulate. Rinse the filter once a week (we recommend replacing it at least once a year) After bathing: attach and close the supplied thermal bath cover to prevent dirt from falling into the whirlpool. Water care: Always check the pH value and use the correct care products in the correct dosage. Do you want to drain your hot tub because you don't use it in winter? Basically, you should also use our hot tubs in winter , as they are designed for exactly that purpose with the integrated frost protection. But if you don't want to use it at all in winter, that's no problem either, there are just a few additional things to consider: After you have completely emptied it, you can blow air through the lines and nozzles. Open the pump valves to ensure no water remains. That's it. Your whirlpool is now ready for a winter break. Cleanliness is therefore the secret to long-lasting relaxation. Owning your own whirlpool does require a bit of work, but it's worth it. Accessibility Accessibility of the chosen location plays a crucial role. Will the hot tub need to be transported through narrow entrances, stairwells, or various doorways? How will the delivery be carried out? Can the site be reached by crane, or is there a paved path to the prepared area? It is very important to measure and carefully inspect the route beforehand, otherwise there may be problems with delivery. But when it comes to usage, you should also consider the distance you have to travel to get to your whirlpool oasis. In inclement weather, such as rain or snow, a short path is more advantageous. Freedom of movement For installation and maintenance, you should make sure that there is enough space around the pool. To get into the whirlpool, the access to the pool should also be wide enough.
