But why is regularly emptying the outdoor whirlpool so important? Is it really necessary? YES. Even if the water appears clean, residues of limescale, care products, skin particles, body oils & dirt accumulate over time. These impurities provide a breeding ground for bacteria and make the water cloudy and unhygienic, despite the addition of chemical cleaning agents and filters. Furthermore, these residues can accumulate in the nozzles and pipes, which can impair the technology . This means that regular emptying is important to keep your hot tub truly clean and extend its lifespan. How often should you empty and clean a hot tub? It's impossible to say in general. It depends on how often it's actually used. Assuming daily use , the water should be changed at least every 8 weeks . If you only use it occasionally or rarely , you should change the water at least every 3 months . Especially after longer periods of disuse, bacteria can accumulate in the hot tub. Therefore, even after extended periods of inactivity, the hot tub should be completely emptied and refilled. Tip: Draining your hot tub can also be helpful if you notice that the jets are bubbling less strongly or if the water smells strange or musty despite adding cleaning agents. How does the emptying process work? Our hot tubs come with two types of drain valves : The side drain valve is located on the paneling and the square drain valve is located in a corner of the base . The article number of your hot tub (SPA**) tells you which one applies to your product. You can find this in our online shop in the product description. Alternatively, you can also use the name of your outdoor hot tub as a guide. WARNING: The power supply must be switched off before emptying. Otherwise, serious damage may occur due to dry running. This type of damage is NOT covered by the warranty. The draining water should only be discharged into a drain . No water should be discharged onto lawns or plants unless the chlorine has evaporated. SPA08 to SPA18 These models require a 3/4" counterpart (e.g., Gardena). SPA52 to SPA62 Tip: After emptying, you can clean the acrylic with a damp microfiber cloth to remove any deposits. Basically, you should also use our hot tubs in winter , as they are designed for exactly that purpose with the integrated frost protection. But if you don't want to use it at all in winter, that's no problem either, there are just a few additional things to consider: After you have completely emptied it, you can blow air through the lines and nozzles. Open the pump valves to ensure no water remains. That's it. Your whirlpool is now ready for a winter break. Cleanliness is therefore the secret to long-lasting relaxation.
